CalcFire is a small application that provides quick access to the Windows calculator. It works as a resident application at the system tray, from where it’s possible to open a context menu with the following options: Run calculator, to open Windows calculator; Enable/Disable to turn on/off CalcFire; Start with Windows (on/off); View Readme, containing some usage information; Website; About; and Exit.
The quick access to the calculator is performed through a keyboard shortcut which combines the NumLock key and the division key (/) next to it in the NumPad. This shortcut can be used for both opening and closing the calculator. The convenience is obvious: you can open and close the calculator right from the keyboard area which is most used with it. Besides, using this shortcut will not affect the current NumLock state. In the disabled state, even when CalcFire is open, it won’t affect the behavior of the NumLock key.
CalcFire will run on Windows XP and Vista. Its installation file is really lightweight and won’t affect the system performance at all. Another advantage of this tool is that it’s totally free.
